All of itby Kate Ling & Jon Nicholls
"All of it is a collaboration between poet and photographer which seeks to stimulate re-reading of the work - here a collection of closely observed snippets of the urban (sometimes crossing into the domestic) landscape. Not so much psychogeographic – the places are not specific – as it is a reminder of the details that are frequently overlooked in our cityscape and how they contribute to the definition and texture of our environment. In keeping with that thought, the words and images are not so much pairings with a dialogue between specific texts and photos as they are extended essays which weave together without quite touching and obliquely remind the reader to look again more slowly and carefully [...] With a combination of strong poetry and photography working to complement each other and add depth, the result is a successful photo-poetry work that also encourages a slower and more thoughtful walk through the book - and your neighbourhood - and which I think serves as a fine example of what photo-poetry can do."
